LSAW PRODUCTION PROCESS - CHART

The pipe mill and coating plant designed to produce high pressure steel linepipes using the Longitudinal Submerged Arc Weld (LSAW) technology. Through this technology, AMES hopes to meet with over 50% of national demand currently put at 2 million tons estimated at over $3.5 million worth of annual procurement. A similar but future plant would be built to produce linepipes using longitudinal weld pipe technology so as to meet the balance 50% welded pipe requirement. Each plant would cost USD 150 million and would produce 500, 000 tons steel linepipes critically required by the Oil and Gas industry, Agriculture, Civil / Structural Engineering construction, and Federal and State water urban projects. It is assumed that USD 300 million funding would be required to construct both plants simultaneously in Benin-City, Edo State and Yenogoa, Bayelsa State. Both plants when completed in 2018-2019 period are expected to employ an initial 700-1,000 young Nigerian engineers and non-engineers. AMES is a major offtaker for the upcoming Siemens and Edo state government joint venture power project scheduled to be ready in 2018. Otherwise, AMES desires another $30-50 million to build a dedicated 10-15MW power plant to meet the power needs of AMES and also sell to the other emerging businesses around the same location.


AMES has included the construction of a training facility in the overall master plan of the project in other to continuously build human resource, ensure highest level of product quality, reduce production risks, keep the employee skills at the highest level of productivity and sustain plant maintenance, achieve 100% technical and operational excellence in production and quality. Based on the AMES technical training school model, the plant would earn income in developing technical skills for Nigerians and other African countries in pipe milling and coating.

 

SUSTAINABILITY PLAN
Through our sustainability program with the community, AMES would engage qualified community youths members to build sustainable enterprise and drive positive social change. Our human resources plan is to train an initial 100 young engineers especially those from technical schools overseas while the plant is being produced in other to learn the art and science of linepipe milling and coating. They would in turn return to jointly set up the plant with the OEM turn-key engineers and train others in both practical and theory. Personnel training would be a continuous affair as a training school would be embedded within the plant administrative building. AMES has held discussions with the Nigerian Content Monitoring and Development Board (NCDMB) to further the technical training needs of Nigeria in linepipe milling and coating technology when the plant is commissioned. The pipemill and coating plant is adequately covered by Nigerian content law to attract 100% patronage by all 9 IOC's and NOC's operating in Nigeria and hope to be granted the pioneer status by the Nigerian Investment Promotion Council (NIPC). An MOU has been signed with the Nigerian content Monitoring Board to guarantee investors preferential procurement status, which means that all the International and Nigerian oil and gas, civil construction and agricultural companies must compulsorily buy linepipes from the mills being constructed in Benin-City and Polaku, Yenogoa, Bayelsa State by AMES.

AMES is planning to construct a linepipe milling and coating plant in Edo state in alignment with Government economic diversification plan. The project would to bring about a positive, rapid, sustainable and diversified socio-economic development to Nigeria with potential to increase GDP from current levels at $487 billion by 3-5%. AMES management strongly believes that Benin-City, Edo State has matured to the statue of becoming a truly industrialized state owing to the fact that solid minerals and multiple agricultural products abound in the state. Benin-City is central to major oil and gas facilities and pipelines managed by NPDC, PPMC, 

NGC, SHELL, CHEVRON, SEPLAT, PANOCEAN, SAHARA ENERGY and a few other

Nigerian independents operating in the Niger-Delta. Edo state is also an economic and logistics hub providing road arterial access to 11 states in Nigeria. AMES therefore foresees easy access to various markets including the use of KOKO and Gelegele seaport in the future to export coated linepipes to Angola, East and West African market. The AMES project is designed to create a paradigm shift that would drive innovation, grow GDP, build a sustainable flow assurance system for Nigeria, catalyze new manufacturing organizations, enhance existing businesses ability to innovate and open the space for entrepreneurship while spinning off new sustainable value chains. The construction of the AMES linepipe and coating plant meets with the Eco-Humanitarian criteria to attract international investment for the project.
